So this is new: security blanket
Hi! I have not been on in a while, but I had a question. DS is 6 years old and seems to have grown attached to a blanket and will not sleep without it. He has never had an attachment to any object like that before, and I am just going along with it (whatever makes him comfortable and it's not hurting anyone). I was just curious because I have heard of this in younger children, but not just starting in school age children.
A little background: he is an anxious child, always has been and he does have SPD. He just started kindergarten this year. Nothing new seems to be bugging him and he is acting like his usual self otherwise.

Maybe he needs some comfort because of just starting K it's a huge transition for kids. I'm a teacher and a mom of a new kindergartner and think this is definitely normal. As long as he is fine otherwise and you are talking to him about school, friends, teacher I would just go with it.
