So, Smash... Did you watch it? What'd you think?
I loved it!! I even stayed up for the entire thing and that's saying something.  I really liked the Debra Messing character.
The funny thing is, about two weeks ago the production staff was going around my neighborhood scouting for a shooting location and they came to my house. Since I didn't know who it was, I didn't answer and they left a flyer in my mailbox saying that they'd be shooting in the area this month and to give a call if I wanted my home considered. I should've called!!

I thought it was ok. I felt like there was too much going on, too many storylines to keep up with. But, I love the premise so I will definitely watch it again.
Did Ivy remind anyone else of Rachel Berry, or was it just me?
The guy who plays Tom (or is it Tim?) looks soo familiar, like he was in something when he was a child or a teenager. I looked him up but nothing rang a bell.
Katherine McPhee is a phenomenal singer.
I also like Jack Davenport (Derek).

I thought it was a little cheesy, but not cheesy in a funny way like Glee, cheesy in a way that made me feel bad for everyone involved because they werne't tryingto be cheesy.
It hink it has potential though--it was mostly Tom that was over the top & made the whole thing seem silly. I thought Katherine McPhee was surprisingly good.

I enjoyed it cuz I'm such a theater dork, but geez it is so cliche ridden. Like the sleazy director storyline....come on. And of the songwriting team, who is the composer, who is the lyricist? Are they both? And I don't believe that director staged that huge dance number. I'll keep watching just cuz it's my thing but it'll probably annoy me like Glee does. I think this is better though....Glee has gone off the deep end to me.

I recorded it, but haven't watched yet. The previews looked good so we shall see!

Agree with almost all of this with two exceptions: I've never seen Glee for even a minute and my DH is, by far, the bigger theater dork.
But yeah, we were  over the composer/lyricist thing and then for a moment thought Debra Messing could have been the librettist. Then I was again during the baseball number thinking, 'Isn't that guy the DIRECTOR? Where's the choreographer?'

another theater geek here so of course I'm watching. The cliches were annoying but I'm really liking Kat McPhee. Hoping this gets better
