So sad to see this...
A bum
I work in Seaford on Merrick rd and there is a man who we pretty much see everyday...and its so sad to see this. Esp when they days are cold and he is out on bench eating his lunch or as I was told, sleeping in the doorway of a closed store front.
Im not familar with any shelters around here. I was told from a local that a friend of hers always stops and hands him $100. I said that was very generous and kind but it stinks because that wont get him a place to stay.
Just stinks and I feel bad for him.

Re: So sad to see this...
My BIL was homeless for a while. The town has many shelters and homes for those who are homeless...Free medical, free food, and a stipend for other food or clothing. Many of them want to live on the streets though. Sadly, many are suffering from drug or alcohol addictions.

Is it the older one with a beard or the other one. Saw the older one in Pathmark buying a beer at 10:30am.

Re: So sad to see this...
I grew up in the city and there used to be one who lived in front of the air vent outside our apartment bldg... I was little and remember thinking he was sweet - I felts bad for him...
then - there was this homeless woman in our neighborhood who actually became quite famous and a spokeswoman for the homeless. She used to stop and say hello to my baby sister everyday - she was so awesome and intelligent!!!! It makes you wonder, you know...
does anyone remember this woman? She was black and used to speak at colleges. I think it was because she wasn't allowed in a restaraunt restroom, and made a big deal about it, and refused to take money from people, and would rip it up if they gave her money - on the East side - in the 60's.....meaning the street, NOT the year The year was mid to late 80's, early 90's...
