So my DH just informed me...
...that he doesn't believe in taking children to restaurants and other public venues until they are at least 3 years old.
I laughed.
He said he was serious.
I laughed harder.
If he thinks I'm spending the next three years tied to the house and unable to leave, he's got another think coming!!!

lololol...I think the earlier you expose them the better they will be in the future. He'll realize it when he gets bored at home!

Re: So my DH just informed me...
He must be talking to my DH!! Last week he mentioned that he wanted to go to Hawaii next January as our first family vacation and then asked where we would leave our baby, meaning take the older one and leave the younger one. Boy was I laughing. I said all children will be coming with us.

Re: So my DH just informed me...
He better get over that real quick
The earlier u take them out the better, they just won't learn POOF one day how to behave in a restaurant
Let alone being confined to your house!

Believe me .... you are better off starting them young or they will be monsters when you take them out later on

It's actually easier to take an infant to a restaurant than a toddler.

Re: So my DH just informed me...
My peditritian's policy [with my first] was to see the newborns the day after they left the hospital. [3-4 days old] A friend asked if we could do lunch since I would be out...I figured that if the dr. wanted her out in a germy office [ie-the sick children that are there], she'd survive a restaurant. I also took her to see Shrek at 6 days old. She attended my kid sister's 5th grade graduation at 10 days. My daugther went everywhere with me...and she got her first cold at 2!
If he's worried about misbehaving, honestly, my experience over the years has shown some kids are horrible and some are not. My sister was a monster in public, no matter the setting. My daughter would point out the bad children while she sat calmly coloring or eating. And it's better to acclimate them to social settings early than throw them to the wolves later!
