so maddening
DH and I went walking thru Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter today.
Someone is surrending their dog when we are leaving, I whisper it to my husband. Outside we see a beautiful rottweiller puppy being walked. We walk over and talk to the man about him.
The puppy is 5 months old and they are getting rid of it because the daughter bought it for her 1 bedroom apartment thinking it could stay in the bedroom, but now he is just too big. Funny thing is he was still tiny, so I dont know what size they thought this dog would be.
It's dopes like this that make me mad. Tell me you dont have time for him. Tell me you didn't realize what a big commitment he would be.
Don't tell me you bought a ROTTWEILER, a MALE rottleiler and now think he is too big for your little apartment!!! How do you buy a dog that will be over 100lbs ?? grrr
I'm so sad thinking of that baby sitting in a cage overnight, scared. Waiting for god knows how long for a home. I wanted to go in and tell that girl she is a dope and needs to find that dog a home not dump him.
If anyone would like a purebreed 5 month old adorable rottweiler he is waiting for you at TOH.
rant over. I feel better now.

Ughhh that story makes me mad too!
I hate when people do things like this. I knew someone who had a cat, then adopted a dog and the cat and dog didn't get along say they gave the cat away!!
In any case, I REALLY WISH that I could adopt that puppy! But, DH and I both agreed we're going to wait on getting a puppy till we have kids that are old enough to want one and appreciate it it. Then we'll get our kids a puppy one holiday, or something I always wished MY parents did that for ME

I want to cry reading this. People make me so sick. If you adopt a pet it is your responsibility to take care of it FOR LIFE. Don't do stupid things without thinking them through first.
I pray that that little guy gets a forever home very soon.

Re: so maddening
DH & I went to the shelter yesterday to look at the boxer & rottie you FMed me about. There was no boxer who matched your description so I that he was either claimed or adopted. There were 2 rotties (5 month and a 3 month) both of which had my DH .We put in an application for the 3 month rottie and were informed there were other applications on file .
Walking through & seeing all those dogs was so heartbreaking. For the most part, most of the animals wanted to interact and were freely giving away licks & kisses.
