So I finally booked the Baptism! I have a couple questions?

So I booked it for August 1st since it was the only weekend people in my family didnt claim for something...lol..Anyway we are having it at the New Village recreation center. Its a town hall in Centereach. There is no alcohol allowed. Do you think people will be upset? I hope not. We are on a tight budget so thats why we went with this hall. Anyway I hope people could have a good time without out the alcohol.

My other question is: The church is at 1:30 in Ronkonkoma. I want enough time to go and decorate before the guests arrive. Do you think 3:00 is too soon or should I push it until 3:30. The hall is rented for 5 hours. Not sure how long a baptism takes??

Thank you!Chat Icon

My question for you is what are you going to do with all the people that come to the church? Tell them to go home and then come back? to be honest nearly ALL of my guests came to the church. I could not figure out how to get the hall decorated so we just did it in a restaurant....ok...I'm no helpChat Icon

Re: So I finally booked the Baptism! I have a couple questions?

I just booked ours too. Well, I booked the church and am looking at halls.

I would never be able to have an alcohol free party, my family of crazy Italians wouldn't know what to do.lol. But, if your family isn't like that, then I don't see a big deal.

As for the party, church is at 1:30..is it just the Christening? Is it just your DD? Or is it a Mass? Either way, your are going to want time for some pics outside the church.. I think the earliest you can have the party start is 4.

Re: So I finally booked the Baptism! I have a couple questions?

There are 6 baptisms that day so its not just my DD. I just need about 30 mins before the guests arrive to decorate. My family will have no problem waiting, I just didnt know how long it takes to do a baptism, if it takes and hour, that leave me no time to do pictures. It takes another 20 mins to get to he hall. And as far as the drinking goes I hope everyone can understand in my family. I just did not have the money to have it anywhere but a town hall. Especially since iam out a job if the second budget vote dont pass... Chat Icon Now you have me worrying about the drinking..lolChat Icon There will be a Dj and maybe a clown for the kiddies. There is also a outside playground for them. Maybe they can tailgate in the parking lot if they need alcohol..Chat Icon Chat Icon J/K..

They usually take about an hour.

When I worked in catering, people would book their parties for an hour and a half after the start time and their guests would arrive a half an hour early while we were still setting up.

Thank you. I may also send some friends there early to help set up.

I think the alcohol situation is fine-you know your family better than anyone of us. We have alcohol available at our parties but that's how it works for us.

As for the set up-I would definitely assign that to someone else. I would have the party right after the church and ask someone else to go over and decorate while you are taking pictures.
