So how long do you think I have until DD starts walking?
DD has been pulling herself to a stand since 6 months. Standing on her own—without holding on to anything or pulling up on anything—since 8 months. She'll be 9 months a week from today and the other night, she took one step! Just one and then giggled hysterically, but hasn't done it again since. I'm in no rush—just wondering if it sounds like she'll be a 9-month walker? Or do they do this for a while?

Mine took one step at 9 months- then the next day BAM- full on walking.
So yes, you may have an early walker on your hands!!!

it depends on the child but dd had been walking since 9 1/2 months. Didn't take her long to figure it out.

Yikes, thanks ladies! I have noticed that while she can cruise, she prefers to crawl to her destination (she can get there faster), so maybe that means we have some time (though I wouldn't bet on it )

Ditto. DD was full-on walking by 9.5 months

Could go either way honestly. My friends DD was cruising for 2-3 months, taking 3-4 steps at a time before she got hte courage to start REALLY walking. She wound up being 1 year old when she really was walking, but had been doing everything else since 8-9 months old.

Definitely depends on the child. My son started taking steps at 9.5 months and didn't full-on walk until 14 months.
