So how are the Veggie Gardens doing?
Our zuchini has taken over half the garden overshadowing the peppers and eggplant. We have harvested 2 hugh zuchini so far and there are many more to come.
The cherry tomatos are doing well and are tasty.
The beefstakes look more like heirloom and are getting big but nothing is anywhere near red yet.
I just keep watering.
My roses and flowers are doing ok but our lawn is toast.

Re: So how are the Veggie Gardens doing?
Everything is growing as if it's on steriods and I have a completely organic garden.
Tons of tomatoes that will probably be ready at the end of next week. Last year, they weren't ready for at least 2nd wek of August. The plants are so huge we can't stake them anymore... they are just all over the place.
Cucumbers... tons of them. Planted too many. I harvest at least 2 a day.
Zuchini... harvested for the last two weeks. Probably about 10 or 12 so far. Will be making lots of quiche and freezing for the fall.
FIL planted eggplant even though I don't eat it so it's going back to them.
The ratio of plants in my garden is always a surprise to me because I can't do the initial planting... too busy with school in the spring.

Re: So how are the Veggie Gardens doing?
I let mine go
I didn't think I had to put up my fencing until I started seeing flowers, but the bunnies are in full force this year! (never before have I seen so many of them) - dried blood - fox urine - nothing kept them away.
They ate all of my eggplant, cucumber, peppers and broccoli PLANTS (stems, roots and all) before I could do anything.
then i had tonsilitis the first heat wave (100+) and I just couldn't get out to take care of it, so I let it all go
I'm pretty disappointed b/c I usually have a pretty good yield.
The bunnies are now onto my crab grass...so I guess there is some good of it. But these suckers are not scared...I have to run at them yelling to get them to leisurely hop away.

Re: So how are the Veggie Gardens doing?
mine is doing awesome except my once beautiful zucchini plant is almost dead It was attacked by these horrible yellow spikey-looking bugs like last year...
my tomato plants are HUGE and I have a few peppers and eggplants almost ready to be picked... we have also gotten some cucumbers and green beans as well

Re: So how are the Veggie Gardens doing?
this is my first try, so I am just gettiong the hand of it. My cherry tomatoes are doing good, my beefsteaks are kind of small, but one plant they are red.
I have a couple questions though, forgive me if they sound stupid. My beefsteak plats grew 2 tomatos only each. Is this normal. Will they grow more, or thats it?
Once they turn red, do they get bigger, or you just pull them when they are red?
