So helpless
Zantac- helped but reflux still visably there and painful
Mylecon- helps for 5 minutes but then gas pain returns
Allementum/nutramigen - has made me stop nursing (still pumping but freezing) costs $$$$ and hasnt stopped the screams
What do i do? I hate seeing my baby in such pain and dont know how to help. We cry together i feel like a failure at motherhood. I should be able to make the pain go away and i cant

Did you check to see if Alimentum is covered by your insurance? My insurance covered dd's rtf 100%. Are you using powdered or rtf? Definitely stick with the rtf for now. Dd was on Zantac then Axid and neither helped. We ended up adding oatmeal to the Alimentum and that finally worked. She finally stopped throwing up. I'm sure you feel helpless but don't. You are doing everything you can possibly do. Do you burp after each oz? What bottles are you using? Do you sleep baby on an incline?

How long have you been giving the formula for? How long for the zantac? How much zantac (and how much does the baby weigh? )
I know with DD we had to make sure that the zantac doseage was correct for her weight especially in the beginning. The slightest bit off and she was miserable.

The formula can take a week to make a difference. Give it time and if that still doesn't work maybe he will need prescription formula. Have you taken him to see a specialist? Another mother I "met" in one of the groups has a specialist in woodbury I think. She also lives in ronkonoma. Alimentum didn't work for her and now her son is in Neocate.

also agree about the dose and doing RTF.
dd could only tolerate the nutramigen RTF.
if that doesn't work, have you gone to a pediatric GI?
checked her stools for blood?
could dc need elecare or neocate?

I really don't have any advice because I am going through the same thing. I just wanted you to know you aren't alone and from what everyone keeps telling me ...it will get better!
Have you tried gripe water? Our pedi told us yesterday it could take 1 month for the formula to kick in.
