It is a silver/grey/maybe super light blue? (I may be colorblind, but it's light - i know that!)

Regardless....

....I have a toddler. A messy, sticky, filled-with-boogers little 2 year old boy.

Am I nuts for buying such a light color?

I got the 60 dollar for 5 year protection plan...but still...

sometimes I hate having to modify my living stuff (no candles burning, no breakables, etc) just because I have a kid.Chat Icon

Does anyone think I'm nuts? You can be honest.

Or, does anyone have a light colored couch & kids and it is fine?

I could always put plastic on it...like on The Nanny (her mom did that) lol

Re: So everyone who liked my Bob's couch..I have a confession.

we have a light couch as well. Our cushion covers are removable so I wash them pretty often. My dd's are only 9 months so its only been formula and I had no problem getting it out. I also use carpet cleaner on the arms (i've been known to spill some wine occasionally LOL)
My friend had a red couch that had a lot of stains, so I really don't think the color matters too much.

You are absolutely nutsChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well, you askedChat Icon

We inherited a brand new, one month old, off white couch when my IL's tenant moved... not my style but it's in the den/play room. We've had for 4 years now. I'm a neat freak and I can't wait to BURN it!!!

I can't keep up. It looks like it's been in the waiting room at Penn Station (OK, well not that bad but you KWIMChat Icon Chat Icon ) or on tour with Guns and RosesChat Icon

I was just at a fellow poster's house for a play date. She recently redid her basement into a Mancave/Playroom and she was very smart... chocolate brown... deep, rich... chocolate brown couch and chair... hides a multitude of sippy cup spills and dirty finger prints.

I always love watching the decorating shows and seeing the pictures posted here but I have to Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon when every piece of fabric is white, off white, etc.

I know Candice Olsen has young children, she must have velvet ropes across half the doorways in her homeChat Icon

I'd buy a slipcover for every day use when the kids are in the room.

If that's going to be your "main" couch - yes, you are nuts. Sorry! We mainly hang out in our den and we have a brown leather sofa and I wouldn't have it any other way. It takes a beating and still looks great.

The good thing is that you bought the protection so it can be replaced.

yes...
nuts!!!
we got an olive green microfiber couch from Bob's and it has some juice stains on it.. we got the goof proof but it is a pain in the but- every time you want someone to come you have to basically fill out an accident report and send it in the mail!! Then they call you to schedule.

I have no kids yet, so my opinion might not be worth anything, LOL.

Is it microfiber?
We have light colored microfiber couches.
I've dropped pizza, spilled wine among other things on them.
The spots just come right off with a wet rag.
Now crayons, pens, markers I have no idea about.

In theory you're right- much easier to get stains/spills out of microfiber- but I think that's when you see the spill and take care of it right away-- but DD has spilled on our microfiber couch many times on the down low- and I didn't realize until the next day after stain has set.

Re: So everyone who liked my Bob's couch..I have a confession.

I have a chocolate colored sofa with a 20m old and it never looks clean. BUT that's b/c of the fabric. If I had to do it all over again, I would go with a light colored sofa (I originally wanted cream) with an easy to clean fabric.

So, to sum up Chat Icon , no, I don't think you're crazy! I think toddlers have a knack for creating messes. It's why magic eraser and stain removers were created for Chat Icon

enjoy!

Get some throws to keep the sofa covered during the day and ban food/drinks from the room.

my sister got hers treated (not from bobs but cream microfiber) with a stain resistant

she spilled coke on it and it didn't even sink into the fabric

it was amazing

she got over 5 years ago- it's been in 3 houses and it looks great!

I think the furniture store offered it

I don't think Bob's does...I would have gotten it for my couch

there has to be a company that comes over and scotch gaurds or something

Re: So everyone who liked my Bob's couch..I have a confession.

I have a 15 month old and for that reason decided to go with a dark couch although I liked the lighter blue/silver color it was offered in better. I think about it this way. They aren't going to messy little boys forever. Why drive yourself crazy trying to keep your new couch clean? When they are 17 and you're wishing they were babies again buy a light couch!

:)
