So, bigmouthed babes
The provost of my university recently called my program "miniscule" and "unneccesary" in a recent NYT article. They're also firing my favorite professors.
Completely unrelated,I also recently got a letter from the provost (personally signed) saying since I'm a "provost's scholar" he personally wants my opinion..
Do i give it to him now, or wait until the diploma is in my hand?

Give it now, and give your honest feedback but be professional about it. They can't not give you your diploma, right?

You never know...
I don't know how to be "professional" about ti because I am SO angry. Imaging putting years into a program, working your *** off, coming to your graduation and then having someone call it "miniscule".
I can only imagine how my advisor, who started the program 25 years ago feels.

Then say just that. But if you go off on him in your letter you won't be taken seriously.
AFTER you get your diploma and send him a professional letter you could always send him a nasty one right?

What a jerk.
I would say something now.
Explain that when he called the program miniscule it felt like he was calling you miniscule and while he is entitled to his opinions, he should word them more carefully to minimize the damage to others.
Practice what you want to say a few times, maybe even write it out and let someone more objective review it to make sure it's professional.

Maybe I'll post it here for a critique!
I know. I was really upset. The man never came once to a production, and he's calling us miniscule. He could have said "it's a small program", but miniscule is not a nice word, especially since he was saying it's too small to matter when there are larger programs...then why did I pay $30K a year to go to a miniscule program?
ETA: The tuition was actually higher for this "miniscule" program...and the admission requirements are higher

That statement alone says alot. What context did he say this in?

It was a NYT article about the fact that they are closing down my college and assimilating it into the alrger unviersity. The first thing to go is the theatre program, and since there is a much larger theatre program on campus which will of course remain running, he said ther was no need for our miniscule program
even though it's a completely different, and yes more expensive program,
and the college as a whole is harder to get into as a freshman.
