So beside myself- any moms of biters?

So, when I picked up DD today, I was informed that she bit someone again today at school. Chat Icon This is the second time its happened- the first time was a week and a half ago. I don't know if it was the same child because they don't tell you who it was that got bit- not that it matters.

DD's teacher says its so normal for her age (21 months)- but I feel like failure! The first time it happened, DD just happened to have a ped appointment the next day, and the ped said its most likely her teeth bothering her. I believe this because DD whines so much that her teeth hurt. I can't give her motrin all the time- and we have tried the hylands teething tablets- and they seem to help- but its not something that I want to give her every day, KWIM?

The teacher said not to make a big deal out of it- and I accepted that the first time it happened- but now I feel like I'm doing something wrong! DD doesn't act out, other than normal almost 2 year old stuff- and she doesn't bite at home- so its not like I can figure out whats happening when she's biting.

The teacher says its unprovoked- so its not like she's mad or frustrated and doesn't know what to do with her feelings.

Anyone have any advice? I'm really upset about all of this.

Thanks.

No advice, just some Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Do not feel guilty, this is NOT your fault. Its a phase, and usually a short lived one.

I am a mom of a biter.

He hasn't done it in awhile...but I am always on guard when he's around other kids just in case.

he bit my babysitting kid last when they were in side by side stroller and babysitting kid grabbed for my kid's snack cup since he finished his own.

that was about 3 months ago.

I flipped.

He bites his other friend when he wants to play by himself. He hasn't done that in about 2 months. hopefully this stage is over.
