So...
we agreed on a price with a couple (selling the co-op) and they e-mailed us saying they need until next week to give us a final decision because they're going over their financials. Does this sound good?

Re: So...
I wouldn't hold my breath on this one. Wouldn't they have gone over the financials prior to making an offer? Plus, shouldn't they have pre-approval for a mortgage already?

Re: So...
Not really. It sounds like they're still looking. I would tell them that you will continue to hear all offers and give them a deadline. A week is ridiculous. Do you have any backups?

Re: So...
That would make me a little nervous. Didn't they know before they made an offer what they had to put down and could afford a month?
Unless maybe they had a sudden life change, like losing a job or something. Still would make me nervous.
Ugh, how stressful. Did you hear anything more on the house you bid on?

Good point.
I would keep showing if I were you. This one sounds a bit flaky.

Re: So...
We do have other offers, but he said that he would like to be first priority...since he really loves the co-op. We just e-mailed him yesterday because we had another offer very similiar to his but we wanted to let him know first. That's when he came back with what I wrote. He said he would let us know early next week.
As for the house we put the bid on....we're laying low right now because the realtor is pressuring us...with "another bidder".

Oh, I didn't realize you had other offers! Those might be gone by next week and if he comes back to you with a "nope, sorry", you really could be screwing yourselves waiting. I'd tell him he's got to let you know by tomorrow or you're accepting another offer.
They tried to do that with us to get us to make the offer to begin with. Then we lowballed her and she didn't even counteroffer - so much for their other interested party I think you're handling it well.
ETS: it's possible that he's thinking what you guys are thinking about the "other offer" on the house you like. If you apply pressure, he may adhere to it. It's all such a game, I think it sux!

Re: So...
I would work on the other offers you have received and give the buyer who asked to be "priority" 24 hours. If it was his priority, he wouldn't need until next week. It's not a deal until it's in contract and anything could happen at this stage.

Re: So...
Definitely start working with your other offers!!!
Remember you don't owe them anything and they don't owe you anything. I can pretty much guarantee he won't feel bad declining your offer even though you lost other potential buyers. You did the right thing by letting them know you are receiving other offers, he needs to give you a decision ASAP or move on.
Good luck on both sides!!!
