Snowboarding...
I really want to give snowboarding a try! Does anyone have any recommendations for good local mountains to take a lesson or two at? My wife would also like to try it out too so we were thinking maybe we could go this week while we're both off! Any suggestions? Thanks!

Killington in Vermont. They have a great hill for beginners and a half pipe if you get adventurous. Plus, if you take snowboarding lessons they are very knowledgeable. Have fun!

Re: Snowboarding...
I hear Vermont is great, but may be too far of a drive for this week. Thanks though. Anybody else?

Hunter is probably your best option. You'll probably hate it for the first hour since it's the equivalent of throwing your body against the mountain when you're first learning. The second I got it, sking was history.
Have a great time.

Re: Snowboarding...
I think everywhere you try will be really packed. I have snowboarded at Brodie in Mass. There is a bus that went directly up.
The thing is you don't really need the caliber of Killington (although VT is a bit far & you'd probably have a difficult time finding lodging) if you're just going to learn.
I haven't tried it but the Poconos might be a good day trip...

I like Brodie and jiminy peek is around the corner...about a 4 hr drive (I believe).
There's Jack Frost/Big Boulder in the poconos link
