Smithtown code for setback of front fence
Does anyone know what the amount of setback has to be for a four foot fence in front yard in Smithtown? I went on their website and it only talks about walls being setback. I found what I read confusing. The fence place I went to told me people do 8-10 feet, which seems excessive to me. I just looked and that is what it is in Brookhaven, which is where fence company is. I am wondering if since this is what I was told by a fence company in Brookhaven, they are giving me their town codes. I thought I read somewhere Smithtown was four feet. I do have utility covers too so that's another issue. Can't get a straight answer.

I believe 4 feet but driving around, you see lots of different numbers.

I thought it was 4 feet. I was told by fence company (which is in Brookhaven) that it is 8-10 feet and I see that is the code in Brookhaven. I am wondering if I am better off going with a local fence company.
