Small Weight Loss
I had my monthly doctor visit last night (I am 15w today) and they did a full exam, pap and all. I am a little sore inside today from the exam, I guess thats normal. (If anyone can relate to that, please tell me, I appreciate all info.) Anyway, when the nurse weighed me, she asked if I was sick or getting better because I lost 6 lbs from the last visit. I havent been sick at all, throwing up or otherwise and I certainly look bigger so it was a surprise. Anyone have the same experience or know why this could be? Thanks.

I just had my 16 week visit but did not have the full exam or any kind of internal exam. I did have one at my 8 week appointment though. Did you not have one at your first appointment? All that happened at my 16wk visit was the usual - weigh in, blood pressure and heart beat.
After my 8 wk appt I did feel kind of weird down there that day and the day after.
I was a little nervous because at my 2nd visit - the 12 week visit I had lost 1lb - didn't gain any weight at all really the first trimester. But at my 16 wk visit I had gained 6lbs which shocked me because i think it is only my belly that has grown and not that big!

Re: Small Weight Loss
Well, I lost 13lbs in the first 13 weeks and didn't gain anything until about 20 weeks or so, but I was (still am) very ill.
Were they concerned? Have you been eating more healthy that you used to? I definately had a belly before I was gaining weight b/c my weight was redistrubting from other places on my body, which is probably what is happening to you.

Re: Small Weight Loss
I lost 5lbs my first trimester, and only got sick a handful of times. Im 15 weeks and have gained back the 5 and about 2 from my normal weight. I think its hard sometimes for bodies to adjust, they are working so hard to grow the baby and not everyone eats more so it could be thats why you lost some? Either way... I would treat yourself to some icecream tonight!!!

Re: Small Weight Loss
Thank you! Well to answer some of the questions...
No, the doctor didnt comment on it at all.
I have been eating pretty much the same but drinking ALOT more water than ever in my life.
I gained 7 lbs in the first 10 or so weeks and so now I am pretty much at my pre PG weight.
This was my first full exam since my last gyno visit before I started TTCing.
ETA: I was thinking that when I found out I was PG and the doctor said to drink a gallon of water a day, maybe my body retained alot of it because it wasnt used to having that much water and so now that I am used to the water coming in (and out) my body regulated itself? I mean my belly is bigger thats for sure. Strange that I am at my pre PG weight when I cant fit in my old pants.
Either that or the girl who weighed me the 1st time messed up the numbers.

Re: Small Weight Loss
They like to yell at anyone who loses weight without a great excuse [excessive m/s]. One month with my first I lost around 6 pounds I believe. They didn't seem to care that I'd had the flu, still had terrible m/s and I also cut all my hair off [from mid-back to just a couple inches]. It's amazing I only lost 6 pounds! From what I've experienced, in reality, as long as you are growing and the baby is growing, your weight gain has little to do with things.

Re: Small Weight Loss
At my 12 week appt, I had lost 7lbs since my 8 week appt. My dr asked me if I had been throwing up- which I hadnt- so she was totally fine with the weight loss. I think its pretty normal!!!

Re: Small Weight Loss
I lost 5 lbs when i was 33 weeks pregnant but the dr wasnt too concerned, he said everything was fine and that can happen during pregnancy. i didnt do anything different during the time i had the weight loss either, no throwing up or eating differenly then i was the entire pregnancy. the dr never gave me an explination of why it happend, he just mentioned it and that was it.
