Re: Slugs

put out a bucket of beer, just deep enough for them to drown. They will go into the bucket and not be able to get out

I bought slug go-away pellet things from Home Depot. You sprinkle them on and around the slug zone and then the next morning you have dried up dead slugs.

Wish I knew about the beer thing before hand!

My parents use them too and they work very well.

The pellet things work well... You can get the same results with salt too.

As for the beer, that's just plain alcohol abuse!!! Chat Icon

I'll stick to drinking mine! Chat Icon

Re: Slugs

Consider crushed seashells as an edging for the problem spots. The soft bodies of slugs and snails get cut up by the edges of the shells and they don't cross it. There's also a certain type of soil - Diatomaceous - that supposedly helps too, although I've never tried it.

Did you know they won't cross copper? I've seen pots with copper rings at the base to prevent slugs from climbing up and munching on the plants.

I have no idea why they won't cross copper, but it's true. Strange, but true.

Trouble is, copper is expensive. Chat Icon
