slow heartbeat
My DH's cousin's wife is 7 weeks PG with her first and went for a sono today. They told her the babies heartbeat is slow and therefore the PG may not be viable. Do you or anyone you know of gone through the same experience and had a healthy PG afterall? I'd love to give her some positive news.

Re: slow heartbeat
We don't know, they didn't say, just that it was a slow heartbeat.

Re: slow heartbeat
my baby's heartrate still hasn't been measured..... I see it beating on the sono, but that's it.
I hope they were being prematurely negative, and their baby is fine

Re: slow heartbeat
I think 7 weeks is too early to say that. If they don't have a very good machine it's hard to measure the rate since the heart is so small at that point. I'm so sorry she is going through this

Re: slow heartbeat
Thanks for the well wishes and info. They have been trying for awhile so they are so excited to finally be PG. My DH and I are also excited because our kids will be so close in age and my DH is very close to this cousin. Both of them are very worried so I'm hoping all will be fine.

Re: slow heartbeat
Is she going back for another sono soon? I am 7 weeks and had my first sono yesterday due to a week of spotting and a previous m/c. The HB was 124. The doc said it was within range. He told me the range is 120-180ish. If I were her, I would probably call the doctor's office tomorrow and ask for the heartrate.

Re: slow heartbeat
I have never heard that. But, I hope she goes back for a follow up.
My first sono was at 8 weeks and the HB was 178, tech said it was within range, and I never thought twice about it.
Now he has a pretty steady HB at 140.

Re: slow heartbeat
At 6w2d, I was told that our baby's heartbeat was 108. BUT the tech said that the heart had just formed, so it was normal. She said that they wanted it between 120-180, but that since it had just formed, it would take time.
We went back at 8w5d (I think) and the baby's heartbeat was 169.
The baby just might need a little time to get it faster.

Re: slow heartbeat
At my level 2 yesterday we asked the tech about the situation and she said that at 7 weeks it's too early to comment on the heart rate so we're praying for the best. She goes back next week for another check up.
