Sleeping question
I keep waking up on my right side. Is this bad? My book says you should sleep on your left side. I wake up throughout the night and turn on my left but every time I wake up I'm on my right side.

Re: Sleeping question
I hope not! I try to sleep on my left but wake up on my back a lot. I have to switch it up left and right side throughout he night.
I think you get the best blood supply through you vena cava when you're on the left, worst on your back. But no one's ever mentioned the right in the books!

Re: Sleeping question
The packet my doctor gave me said only to not sleep on your back and stomach. Back because of the weight of the baby cutting off blood flow and also making it difficult to breathe and stomach for obvious reasons. They never said anything about side. As the PP said, laying on your left side increases blood flow but I don't think there is anything wrong with sleeping on your right side.

Re: Sleeping question
I slept on both my right and left side the entire pregnancy. Left is preferred but right is fine too.

Re: Sleeping question
I get a lot of pain in my legs if I stay on one side for too long. I switch it up between the left and right side. Right side is fine, but left is preferred for blood flow. Do you have a body pillow? That might help you if you want to stay on your left side more.

Re: Sleeping question
I try to sleep on my side but I've been waking up on my back and I get so nervous that I'm doing something wrong! I use a body pillow but I might try to put another pillow behind me for back support.

Re: Sleeping question
Thanks, I feel better now. I have woken up on my back twice as well. I try to use more back support to avoid it but as you can see from side turning that doesn't really work.
