Sleeping question...

So I bought and read the "Happiest Baby on the block" book, and I found it pretty useless. My DD is not a fussy baby at all, and this book was mostly about calming a fussy baby. I just want to know how I can get her to sleep through the night Chat Icon Chat Icon She is just about 3 months, and still waking 1x per night to eat. She will go down around 8-9pm and sleep until about 3am, eat, and then sleep some more until about 6am. I would love to cut out the 3am feeding. Any suggesstions?????

Re: Sleeping question...

I'm in the process of doing this with my Molly. Wednesday, I cut out her middle of the night bottle, and she had some trouble settling back down but I think that was because of her shot.

Thanksgiving, she slept through the night.

Friday, she woke around 3:30 and I just rocked her back to sleep and she slept til 6.

Saturday, she work up at 3:30 and wouldn't really fall back to sleep unless I held her pacifier. She was like this til about 5:15 when she got her bottle and didn't go back to sleep until about 7:15.

I am going to see what happens tonight but the Ped. said to just stop giving her the bottle because she doesn't need it. It seems to be working alittle bit.

Good luck!

Re: Sleeping question...

I would say wait for a few weeks. DS is 15 weeks old, and I think he has only been sleeping through the night since mid-October. Your daughter may start stretching that 3am feeding to 4 or 5am (that's through the night for us).
Good luck!!

Re: Sleeping question...

I finally tackled this problem over this weekend. Emma had been waking up at 4:30 like a clock for almost two months and since i have been home with her, I was feeding her and she would go back down for 3 hours. Well, I am going back to work tomorrow so we needed to try to get her to go without it. Wed night we let her cry it out for about 25 minutes. Thurs night she cried for only a few minutes and then Fri and Sat she slept through until 6:30ish. I just put her down now and pray that she does it tonight knowing mommy has to get up early. BTW I read Babywise and feel that it was a BIG help!

Re: Sleeping question...

I found Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child my saving grace. It's about creating a healthy sleep pattern in both non fussy and fussy babies and how to read the drowsy signals.

She will drop or push that feeding to later in the morning soon enough...but only when she is good and ready for that. Considering she was a preemie, she will reach this milestone a little later than term babies.
