sleep study - almost three year old

Has anyone's DC done a sleep study at St. Charles Hospital before? The ENT wants us to get a sleep study before adenoids/tonsils and tubes for my DS.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I am panicking over the idea of a sleep study. My son does not sleep well outside of the house (vacations are loads of fun... not!!!)and I am so worried that we will go and they will not get enough necessary data or something. I am also worried that he will freak out at all the leads and stuff.

The doctor stated that this is probably just a formality and he really believes we will wind up in the operating room. Just so anxious about this sleep study and want to get it over with ASAP!

Please can someone ease my mind???? lol And if you had a terrible experience, please can you let me know? It hasn't been scheduled yet so I may still have time to ask the ENT's office to help me find a new facility...

sleep study - almost three year old

Although my DD didn't have a sleep study, I remember feeling the same exact panic, when she was admitted to the hospital for 5 days. I had so much anxiety about how she would sleep in a hospital room, hooked up to an IV in her arm, constantly being poked/prodded, temp taken, blood draws every 8 hours? Even when she was feeling better, we stayed 2 extra nights. How old is your son? I'd say put on a movie, lay in the bed with him and let him drift off. That's what we did, and she slept shockingly well, considering she's not the best sleeper.

My 3 year old has had two sleep studies done. I was also so nervous because he's not a great sleeper. I'll be honest, there are so many wires that they use on them, covered head to toe. I was actually shocked at how calm my son was when they put them on. I had him watch something on the iPad while they did it. If they fight getting any of the wires on, they will do it when they are asleep. I made sure he didn't nap that day so he was very tired. Once he was all hooked up, I was allowed to lay with him when he was sleeping if I wanted. The technician did have to come in a few times during the night to re-connect wires, but it wasn't bad. I worried so much, and he was the calm one!
