sleep help before I go insane!! long!!
So DS was an amazing sleeper from like 4-10 months. Then all down hill. Around a year we did cry it out and he did awesome, but he began having so many ear infections and constantly had teeth coming in (all came in in a row, even the last molars)
He now has tubes and no more teeth to come in so now seems like the time to make changes to get him to sleep through the night. He goes to bed around 830 and sleeps til midnight but wakes screaming like a maniac around midnight.
He has been in a full bed with rails since 15 months when he climbed out of crib and almost broke his arm.
Any tips or advice or should we just cry it out again. He will scream, bang on door, and just cry like mad til i come in and lay down with him again. I am losing my mind and want to sleep in my own bed again

sleep help before I go insane!! long!!
Dont lay with him or it will never be ok for you again. You just have to reassure him. If he banging the door, take of the hinges & just put baby gate in doorway. He has to learn & everytime you give in..will make it worse. I know it's hard but he needs tough love.

Yeah, im sure your right. To be honest I had been doing that because it was easier for me, lol. I can't take the door off the hinges because its a rented apartment, but I can try to use a gate instead of closing the door and see how that goes.

I have no words of advice but I just wanted to say I feel your pain. DS is 15 months and wakes up screaming every night at 11:30pm and so far nothing has helped. If you find the magical solution, please share as I would love to know too!

Will do. This is also why we did the full size so i could just at least go back to sleep with him rather then him with mky husband and i and two dogs in our bed, but it had backfired and he is dependant on me in there now.

IDK if this will work (b/c my children are terrible sleepers) but can you try to wean him off of you sleeping with him? Here are 2 ideas:
Maybe you could put a chair by his bed, and calm him from there, and the next night, move it further away, then further, until you are out of the room altogether?
Or maybe you could lay down until he is calmer, then get back up, and not lay down again until he goes to sleep again, then do the same for all the other wakings for a few days. In the next few days, maybe you would go in and give him a hug or whatever, but not lay down with him. Then the next few days, maybe you just soothe him with your voice?
Sounds like he is getting himself all worked up which is obviously detrimental to his sleeping, so the key is to get him to be settled enough so that he can settle himself the rest of the way....
Can you tell that I have read 10,000 books on sleep??? Not that it has helped! LOL!

I like the chair idea... I think Im going to try that. I saw that kinda thing on super nanny once and it worked. thanks! Will keep you all posted!
