Skipping Christmas?
No, not the Tim Allen movie...
Part of me seriously just wants to skip going home for christmas this year, and go away instead. Going home for christmas is rediculously hectic for us... and was fine when we had 4 weeks off with college, but now that we only have a week, each day is spent traveling all over long island seeing various family memebers and friends. And then I have to go back and be ready for school again. I'm already traveling up to NY on the other two holidays I have (Columbus Day and Thanksgiving), and, damnit, I want to relax one lousy vacation
Has anyone else ever just skipped christmas?

I haven't but we are in completely different situations. Under the circumstances, I would want to skip it as well.

Me too, too much family drama, and it happens every year

I'd like to skip Christmas with the inlaws. You think DH would let me away with that?

Re: Skipping Christmas?
It is very hectic to travel around the holidays. I travel every Thanksgiving and sometimes Christmas and if you can, I would take the time for yourself.

Re: Skipping Christmas?
yup
since DH moved to NY from OH, we have not been to OH once for Christmas (he's Catholic, I'm Jewish). We were supposed to go the first year he was here, but our flight got cancelled the night before because of an ice storm over there. last year we didn't go b/c it was right after our wedding and we needed a break, from EVERYONE
we cannot skip it this year no matter what!

Re: Skipping Christmas?
My friend did it last year...she and her DH went skiing instead. They said they had a great time.
DH & I have thought about it MANY times...and could SERIOUSLY use it, but there's always the part of us that feels "what if this is ....last Christmas". We just can't.

Re: Skipping Christmas?
Yeah.. me last year.
Im actually looking forward to it this year, probably because it will be my 1st Christmas with my DH.
Last year, I was so overwhelmed with saving $$, and planning a wedding, I wanted to go right from Halloween to New Years.
