Sitting up during sleep

for the last few days DS has been sound asleep and then he suddenly sits up and starts whinning. I don't think he is fully awake but I still have to go in his room and lay him down to go back to sleep. Why is he doin this? Is he not sleeping soundly? Should I stop going in his room to lay him down and just let him go back to sleep on his own?

Chelsea does this. The first couple of times it was kind of freaky to see on the monitor. Usually she just falls down and is back sleeping.

ds does this all the time.. one day i actually caught him sleeping sitting with his head between him legs on his curious george... i gave up on constantly fixing him and he learned to get down imself

Katie did that and now she stands in her sleep.

We used to go back in and put her down and she would be fine, but recently we have had to do CIO so whenever we had gone in there in a hurry to lay her back down, she would start crying, which would wake her up even more.

So we just leave her. Sometimes she lays right back down and sometimes she cries for a half hour or so. But I know that I cant go in anymore b/c that was waking her up more.
