Sippy issues!!

DD will not take a sippy for milk. She will drink juice or water in the sippys with no problem at all...but as soon as I put milk in them, she throws em!

Is this a common issue?
Should I be concerned?

She's 12 months. I was hoping to have her off bottles by now. Lol. I guess I have high expectations. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

If your DC went through the same issue, can you give me some pointers? TIAChat Icon

Re: Sippy issues!!

We just went cold turkey. I got rid of the afternoon bottle first and replaced it with water. The nighttime bottle was next, replaced it with a sippy of milk. If they didn't want it, they didn't have to drink it. They don't need it for the same level of nutrition as they did BM/formula so it didn't bother me if they didn't have milk for a day or two. The morning bottle was the last to go.

Just keep trying, it's the only way she'll give in eventually Chat Icon

Re: Sippy issues!!

I went cold turkey too. On Jack's 1st birthday, he got up from his mid-morning nap....I handed him a happy birthday sippy of milk and never looked back. If you give her a bottle after she throws the sippy....she'll just keep throwing the sippy IMO. I wouldn't replace it. Eventually, she'll realize it's this or nothingChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Sippy issues!!

Im curious to know too!! We have the same issue Andrea. Thomas only gets milk (bottle) 630 am and 630pm. He dropped all other bottles (of formula/milk) once we switched to milk. The rest of the day he drinks water from a sippy.

If we try he refuses the sippy but keeps screaming/crying for milk. Do we just let him cry until he drinks it from the sippy?

Re: Sippy issues!!

DD refused also. I heat up the milk in her sippy and she was ok with that. Dont think lil ones like cold milk. Mke sure plastic is BPA free. She was fine with juice and water in her sippy but when it came to milk she had a fit. Finally got rid of all bottles cold turkey when she turned 3.

We tried the sippy of milk at 12 months too. He wanted nothing to do with it. So I waited. By 14 months he was on 2 sippy's of milk a day. Then he got sick and regressed back to all bottles. Last week I dropped the morning bottle and put milk in a sippy. At first he wasn't happy, but he finally gave in and drank it. Now we are working on the afternoon bottle. He is 19 months today and has feeding issues..

I know some kids get stuck on a certain sippy being only for juice or water etc. I'd go cold turkey, but I'd also buy another sippy (maybe a different color or style) for milk and see if that also helps.

Re: Sippy issues!!

Same problem here. Hence why DD just turned 16 months and I still give her bottles. I figure I'd rather her have milk than not..and she wont drink it if its not in a bottle. Going cold turkey REAL soon!!
