Sippy cups - please recommend a good one!
DS will be 1 in 6 weeks . No rush, but I would like to start switching over to sippy cups for at least one of his current bottles and then go from there.
Which sippies are best for this age? I bought him the munchkin straw ones that everyone raved about, but he doesn't get that he has to suck on the straw (on a side note, they really DON'T leak!).
I also bought him an OXO hard spout sippy cup. It has a little insert so that the water doesn't just dump out, but you have to really suck on the spout to get anything out. He just tries to bite the spout If I take out the insert, too much liquid comes out!
Also, should I try by giving him water in the sippy or do only milk in it?
I'd love some advice

I've read that it is best to use a straw sippy vs the hard spout ones. We use the Nuby flip top straw sippy. Got them at BBB. DS loves his sippy cup and I have no complaints. Ocasional leak but i think i just need to replace the straw, they sell replacements.
DS learned to use the straw sippy all by himself. Not sure you can teach this. I left the sippy out with water for a part of the day. He'd pick it up, play with it, whatever. Same next day. Then my mom noticed there was less water in it, she thought DS spilled it but no, he was drinking out of it!! Let him try to figure it out on his own, he may surprise you.
I started with water. But, now, he'll ONLY drink water out of it. If he sees milk in it, he'll fling the cup or stare at it and then walk away. We may be on bottles forever here.

you'll go through a million gazillion of them til you find the right fit. trust me, this isn't the type of thing that one popular brand fits all. btdt talking! lol. go out and buy them all save yourself the time. i must've gone through at LEAST eight different kinds. trial and error!

IMO
easiest straw sippy is the playtex lil gribber leaks!
easiest sippy sippy is the munchkin sippy ds figure out how to make it leak!
a really really good one doesn't exist, I figure he'll learn on these, and move on to leak proof ones.
I'm also teaching him to drink straight up from a cup. We took a class, where the babies all drank from these tiny glasses, it was a adorable. I can't wait till he catches up.
