sinus infection or allergies

two weeks ago I was on antibiotics for a sinus infections..here I am two weeks later fully congested blowing yellow snots (sorry tmi) and cannot breath! I dont want to go back to the dr...I never had allergies but wtf is going on!

My allergies don't cause me yellow mucus ever. it's always very clear and watery.
If you are still having yellow discharge I'd say it could still be a part of the sinus infection.
A lot of times it's viral, so meds don't even help.

I have to say, the last time I was at the Dr for something viral he gave me a steroid med right in the office to help with the inflammation. It was like a miracle drug- I felt better within an hour.

Maybe you should go back....

I have the same thing and was told it's viral. I get chronic sinus infections and I went to the doctor on Saturday because I was convinced I needed antibiotics and they said to just take over the counter allergy meds and lots of liquid. If I'm still feeling sick by tomorrow I'm going to go back as my ear is starting to bother me.

I do find that flonase and sudafed makes it a bit better.

I would go back in a few days if you aren't feeling better, hopefully it just needs to run its course!

sounds like a sinus infection - i get those all the time, its terrible.

netipot/flonase/claritin and some advil (for the inflammation) is the only way i get through.

Thanks all I tried a Neti pot, saline solution you name it all after being on antibiotics and still all congested! I just got mucinex and made a dr apt for tomorrow. I just want to breath and taste food again! So annoying

1200 mg's of mucinex every 12 hours for a few days.

Definitely sounds like a sinus infection.

The only thing that helps me is mucinex but that's only when I feel it starting to come on. Sounds like you might be full force into it.

I'd go back to the doctor. Cefdinir works really well for me. Some may need a 2-3 week antibiotic.

I am having the same problem... 2 1/2 weeks with no relief in sight. Took mucinex and nothing... Been taking Claritin which helps a little bit but no real relief... I am so tired of feeling sick.. Same symptoms as u and have yellow mucus as well... I haven't been to the doctor bc everyone keeps telling me that its allergies and I won't get any antibiotics anyway. Please let me know if the doc gives u anything.
