Re: Singapore Airlines

Haven't flown singapore specifically, we flew Cathay Pacific (which is a chinese airline) to Vancouver. Vancouver is the halfway point of NY to Hong Kong.

All of the security messages and videos were in Chinese, and all the food was Chinese and it came with chopsticks. It was an odd experience.

Re: Singapore Airlines

Check out this website: Airliners.net for trip reports from tons of different airlines. The posting members on here seem to like Singapore a lot it seems.

ETA: On the first page there is a recent Singapore Airlines review!

To the above poster: We flew Cathay Pacific in April to Hong Kong. Fantastic airline. The service, seats and food in economy were pretty great.

I agree. We flew Cathay Pacific for our honeymoon and loved them. We upgraded to business class for our LA to Hong Kong stretch and it was a little piece of heaven.

Thanks for the website!

ETA: Wow that review of the A380 is the flight that I am taking but in reverse, Sydney to Singapore to Frankfurt. It looks so nice! And it was the cheapest one way we could find.

That website is really great for in-depth reports on airlines. A bit dorky but a fun read I think...If you decide to fly with them let us know what you thinkChat Icon

How the service is?

Are they a safe airline (I know not all is safe, but I don't want to fly on some dodgy airplane)?

Is it reputable? For example, I won't fly certain airlines b/c of safety records.

I am a bit paranoid when it comes to flying. Chat Icon

Re: Singapore Airlines

The service is excellent and awardwinning. The best economy I have flown. Unlike US carriers, alcohol and headsets are free in economy and they have the ICE entertainment system. The flight attendants go thru 6 months Chat Icon of training- longest in the industry

SQ has has air disasters like any other major carrier
what class are you flying??? Do you know the a/c?? If you are flying first many of the a/c have suites

You will enjoy the flight. Not sure about now but last time i flew them from JFK_FRA I was in economy and it was always empty so I always had a FULL row of 4 seats. I lifted up the armrests and made a nice bed

Re: Singapore Airlines

I flew Singapore to Germany (my DH has flown them a few times - it is his favorite airline) and had a great experience. The service is phenomenal - they are very on top of you and run a tight ship. Their uniforms are beautiful! Chat Icon
