I don't have toddlers anymore.. but I still read to my kids and I have every day since they were babies. We make story time part of our routine and if I even TRY to skip it they catch me out! I usually sit and read with them (or let them read to me) while supper is cooking - or after dinner if we have take away. They each pick one book to share with each other.

It's definitely harder when the weather is nice - and finding the time is a pain in the backside. But it is one of the things we most enjoy together. You can take some books outside and read picnic style too!

ETA: You should NOT feel bad. From what I have seen you are a great mom who has a lot of ways that you bond with and communicate with your child. Just because you don't read books every day is no reason to be remotely ashamed of!

I make sure I still read to DD before she goes to bed since there are more things to do outside the house these days.

I read to DD every day - but not necessarily the same time sometimes it is in the morning other times later in the day - when she needs some down time I find is the best.

How do you guys do it? I try and read to my dd and she has no interest. She just wants to play and climb all over me.

Re: since the weather is nice, do you still read to your toddler as much?

reading to my dd used to be a nightmare, she would try to eat the books, crawl away, etc

now that she is a bit older (15 months this friday) she will grab a book from her book bin and bring it over for me to read to her Chat Icon
