Silly question about changing baby's clothes...

Do/did you change your baby's clothes as soon as they got dirty? For example, my newborn spits up and gets his shirt/sleeper dirty all the time. Would you change him each time he spits up on his clothes?

I'm just thinking of the massive amounts of laundry I'll be forever doing if that's the case.

Re: Silly question about changing baby's clothes...

Why don't you put a bib on him so he doesn't get spit up on his clothes?

I would change clothes for spit up, yes.

Re: Silly question about changing baby's clothes...

depending on how wet the clothing gets is how i decide. emma has pretty darn sensitive skin - so if it soaks THROUGH to her skin (i put my hand in the onesie, if i can feel it on the other side, it gets changed.

definitely try using a bib. there's nothing wrong with keeping a bib on your gorgeous boy whenever he is awake!!!!

Put a bib on him Yesi! Chat Icon

If it's a tiny bit, I don't change him.. if it's a lot then I do. Loey's not a big spitter-upper though!

I've tried, but he's still so small (only 5lbs 6oz) and even the smallest bibs are big on him... which is fine, until I put him down and he ends up covering his entire face with it when he moves his arms around! So of course then I can't ever walk away from him because I'm scared he'll do that and won't be able to breathe! (paranoid mommy). So I'd rather not leave him with a bib on unless I'm holding him or sitting right next to him.

I used to for every little drop, my mother said if the baby isn't uncomfortable don't bother, or you'll be doing laundry all day.

Re: Silly question about changing baby's clothes...

we pretty much keep a bib on her at all times because she spits up or drools a lot. If her outfit gets a little bit we don't change, but if she's spit up a lot or her outfit it pretty wet then we change it.

My DD has reflux and spits up ALOT. Usually soaks the bib onto her shirt so yes, I do a TON of laundry a week but she gets a rash if I leave her in a damp shirt so I dont mind.

This bib wraps around the arms so it stays put.

Re: Silly question about changing baby's clothes...

I had an endless supply of terry cloth bibs that saved a lot of clothing from getting wet or dirty.

I would change her clothes as soon as they got dirty or damp. The clothes are so tiny I only did a load or two a week of her stuff.
