Silly grammar question - I'm having a block!
If you are writing your last name ex: The Smiths, is there an apostrophe before the s or not? I know the apostrophe shows possession, but not sure what is correct. thanks!!!!

"Smiths" would be plural
Example: The Smiths are coming for dinner.
"Smith's" would be singular possessive
Example: Mr. Smith's dog is a Beagle.
"Smiths' "would be plural possessive.
Example: The Smiths' house is quite large.
