Sign ups for nursery/pre-school?

How far in advance do you sign up for pre-school? I saw another thread about looking at schools for next year.
Also, are there places you could start mid-year if you relocated?

Im wondering the same thing. Ds doesnt turn 2 until end up of September. Should i be looking for a 2 yr old program now?

The more popular schools get filled up early so i definitely would sign up now. I was going to wait until one of the mom's at our music class told us that people sign up in advance. It makes life so much easier to know where your child is going to attend. Good luck!

My son started school this past September and I had started looking at schools late last fall. I signed him up before December 31 last year to get 2013 rates. It worked out well for us but I suppose I could have regretted signing up so early if I found a place I liked better in the spring and had to lose my deposit.

Also, as long as the school has a spot open, there is no reason they wouldn't let a child in mid year.

I'm in CT but signed dd2 up a few weeks ago b/c the 2's class was already half full. I didn't want to lose a spot at this school. I would start looking. The problem is ratios so the younger the kids the smaller the class. She cn have up to 8 kids and 2 teachers

I signed DD up for pre-K last week. Last year I was late to the game and signed her up for the 3 year old program in June. I was able to get her in a class, but not the one I really wanted.

are you signing up your kids for preschool for next September now?? my kids school doesnt even hand out the forms until March! wow, i thought March was early lol

My school starts enrollment in Jan, so that's when I'll sign up DD for next year. That said when DD was new to the school, entering a 2 year old program, I didn't enroll her until April and there were still plenty of spots.

Mu kids school opens up reregistration in January and then it opens to the public in February.

Both the schools my DS went to have registration in early February for fall classes. He started going when he was 3yo, and I remember registering him the first year at the end of June.

His schools had open registration until the classes were all full. If you wait until the summer, you might not get your first choice of days/times, but there always seemed to be some availability (ex: morning classes vs. afternoon classes).

And both schools will allow mid-year enrollment if there is an opening.

My nursery starts in jan for thr kids already enrolled and then it opens up to everyone in feb.

I moved this past may and signed my dd up in june. A few schools i called either were full or had only 1 slot left and were trying to pressure me. The nursery shes in now was my first choice so im glad.

They also allowed late sign up in sept-nov i believe. I do not know if they allow later than that i never asked. But 1 thing i loved about this school is they try to work with you and make you feel like family, not just another number.

Some places are more strict and 1 such place i called that was not accepting new 2year olds sounded shocked that i just moved here and was looking for a nursery school. Her general attitude was nasty and uninformative which of course made my decision easier lol
