SICK...Help...
I'm only 13 weeks but have a killer cold and cough. My doctor said that I will just fight it off. Did anyone take anything when they were sick? And I'm off from work which is the worst part!

I dont think you can take anything. Maybe a cup of tea with some honey in it?

Re: SICK...Help...
When I got sick, I took Tylenol for the fever, and robittusin for the cough.... When I was at the pizzeria I sucked on Halls too....
I lived on tea with honey and lemon in it....
I also made my personal concoction of honey and lemon mixed together to a thick syrup - every couple of hours i would have a couple of tablespoons to soothe my throat.
ETS: Speak with your doctor and find out from him what he/she feels ok with you taking.
They should be able to tell you right over the phone what you can/cannot take.

Re: SICK...Help...
I had a bad cold early on too and I took Tylenol and drank fluids and had tea and soup. You just have to let it run its course!
Feel better!

Re: SICK...Help...
usually for viral sickness like a cold, they dont treat it with medications like antibiotics. but if you had a fever or your wbc's were elevated you would be given antibiotics. Penicillin and erythromycins are safe during pregnancy (they are preganancy class b) but in the case of a cold... it is your immune system alone that has to do the work. Feel better!!!
ETA: Tylenol is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy. ask your doc and see what you can take.

Re: SICK...Help...
Ask your dr before adding honey to your tea. Its not pasteurized and many OBs say No to it.
I used saline spray and nasal wash, this relieved a lot of the pressure and sinus pain. Other than that just OJ and decaff tea.

I took Tylenol when preggo and had a lot of water, hot tea, and soup if I was feeling sick. I used saline solution if I hada stuffy nose.

Re: SICK...Help...
My MD said NO Sudafed before 14 weeks!! Only plain tylenol and extra strength tylenol. Any of the "tylenol cold & flu" have pseudophedrine in it which is the ingredient used in Sudafed so stay away until you're in your 2nd trimester.
I tried cold compresses on my sinuses and hot steam showers.. Feel better!
