Shutterfly Photo quality

I've used shutterfly for years, but over the past few months I find the image quality to be poor.My pics don't look nearly as sharp as thy used to. I've used various cameras and don't see a difference. Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think it matters if i have them shipped or pick them up?Are there any other sites that you recommend? I never cared for the quality of snapfish photos either.

Shutterfly Photo quality

well I loved shutterfly and I liked snapfish but got the groupon for Vista Print and used it for our annual calendars and was SORELY disppointed. The photo images were grainy and mediocre at best and the quality of the calendar itself was cheap. It was about 25% smaller than the one I got from Snapfish.

We're going back to snapfish next year.

ETA: I was sure to use only the High def quality photos from my D90 on both snapfish and vista print. From my experience vista print was just horrible. I'm fairly ashamed to have used those calendars but I alerady paid for them. I can't WAIT to make it up by creating better ones this Dec.

Ive I had the time and money, I'd get a duplicate image from all three sites and compare. Even if its just a desk calendar (all months with one image)

I think they have gone down hill. I do love their photo books though.

I use mpix.com and they are great quality

Re: Shutterfly Photo quality

Yes I was dissapointed with the image quality on my Xmas cards through Shutterfly.
It looked MUCH better on my screen than on the card

Re: Shutterfly Photo quality

I've honestly always been disappointed when I get prints. They never look completely in focus to me.

Re: Shutterfly Photo quality

Shutterfly, Snapfish, Target, Walmart, CVS are probably the worst places to get prints made. Look at the prices - its cheap for a reason.

I suggest using mpix. Most professional will recommend using them since they calibrate their machines and do a pretty decent job at being close to what a professional photographers prints will look like.

Question though- I have ordered prints through mpix because that is where my newborn photog uploaded them for me to access.
However, do they do cards, etc?
I don't recall seeing any.

I agree that mpix is much better, but they only store pictures for a limited time, correct?

They are hit or miss on cards. I had to send my announcments back 3 times for reprints. I havent tried mpix for cards but their photo quality is good. I got a calendar for ILs for xmas from mpix which was also good.

Re: Shutterfly Photo quality

shutterfly is hit or miss lately. Usually we get something good and then something crappy from another lab. If i dont like the quality i tell them and they've re printed and shipped it out again to me for free and it has always been better. I've done that with prints, books, calendars, and holiday cards.

I use mpix alot for photo prints.

I second mpix.

I used Shutterfly for a small batch of cards this year because I had a $20 promo code for them from DD1's school pics, and with the sale they were having it ended up costing me nearly nothing so I gave it a shot. It wasn't many cards I needed and they were practically free. I figured they couldn't screw cards up too much. I was wrong. Took them three tries to get them to an even acceptable level.

I've never had a problem with snapfish. I always get the pictures delivered because they have a much better printer than my local walmarts. Been using them since they started.

I haven't had a problem with shutterfly yet makes me sad to hear they are going downhill in quality. I've been mostly ordering photobooks though and haven't had a problem. Snapfish IMO is the worst everything I have ordered in the last year has been crappy.
