Shower vent... remember the one from a few months ago?

So my shower is on Saturday. Just as I predicted, it's on Staten Island. It's around the corner from my IL's.Chat Icon because that's convenient, living in Queens. Because it does not feel like someone punched me down there at all times or that I'm so bloated I can't fit into shoes anymore. I'm not even complaining about that.

A couple of weeks ago, my landlady asked me to give her a ride to my shower. She doesn't drive on highways. I told her no but I would figure out a way to get her and her children there. I'm having my father and his wife drive from long island to my house just to pick them up. I did this because I'd rather be alone with my husband because I stress out before I go to any event, for myself and for others. This runs in my family because my mother used to freak out too.

Today my DH gets a text from my best friend that she and one of my friends needs a ride. Again, no one drives. I'm at the end of my rope. I really can't take this. I'm so stressed out about this because I have to worry about everyone's logistics. I knew this would happen. I have such bad heartburn from this not to mention the pains from stress is worsening. I take things to heart, I fought with my DH and there's nothing I can do. I don't even want to go.

P.S. I registry stalk and nothing is moving. I'm probably stressing out for the 5 people that are coming thanks to the caravan I have import from Queens.

Sorry this is so long and yes I'm mad about this again. I just want to cry.

I'm so sorry.

But honestly, I think it's crappy that your friends and landlady are texting your DH or asking you for assistance to get there. SHAME on them for that! Like you guys need the extra stress.

I know it being in Staten Island is crappy -- but they had all this time to make arrangements to get there, and NOT wait until the last minute and expect one of you to figure it out.

Do not feel bad -- they should've made the effort to really make it there, since there was nothing you could do about the shower location. Try your best to just enjoy the shower and I would have DH let the friends know that he has his hands full and they need to figure it out on their own.

I hope you are able to have a good shower no matter what!

Oh I am so sorry. This would totally stress me out too! That was exactly how I felt about having my shower far away from where I was (and from public transportation). It is soooooo not your job to arrange that.. they should consider a shower as if the person throwing it had no idea about it.

Try not to stress too much if possible and have fun with whoever goes and ignore the rest! I wish I had a bus company and could offer to drive all your folks! Chat Icon

Oh Danielle, what a $hit situation. I don't even have any crafty advice for you. People were kind of like this for my wedding too - calling me the night before asking me how they were going to get there. Seriously. I don't know why so many people wait until the last minute to plan this stuff out.

Hang in there - I am sure you will enjoy the day once you get there.

I'm sorry the weight of all this is falling on you!!! I can't understand why people would bother the guest of honor about how to get there. Tell them to call the host up and ask them for a pick-up. Chat Icon Seriously, it can't be your responsibility!!!!

Try not to stress about it. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Just get there and when you do, enjoy yourself!!!

Sorry this has caused you so much grief. You'll have extra fun at your shower because of it since you deserve to!

I'm sorry that you are getting stuck in this position. I wish that people weren't calling you to figure out their logistics. Try not to stress and enjoy yourself on Saturday (so much easier said than done). Things will start coming off the registry.

So sorry you are going through this Chat Icon . For starters it is NOT your responsibility to make sure everyone gets to your shower. Why should you coordinate everything , that is ridiculous. Second, for my bridal shower and other showers I have been to, most people wait until the last minute to get gifts , so I wouldn't worry about that.

Honestly don't feel bad that you are complaining about it!! It should be a day when you are not stressed - I mean if you wanted to be in charge of your own shower that's different - but then of course it would probably be in QUEENS!!!!

Yes, this registry thing is killing me. I think it's the planner in me.

Maybe the other baby bjorn is carry the dog around, so it won't feel left out.

Nobody likes a new mom that falls on the floor due to extreme boobage!

We definitely will have to see who followed it. Thanks for the knit blanket, 20 times.

Sorry everyone is coming to you. Whats done is done now. Try to put the location on the back burner so you don't let it ruin your day. No matter what, the people that love you will be there, no matter how they get there. As for the people calling for rides, foward them a bus schedule or something, you need your car for you and DH and to transport stuff. Hope you are able to relax and have a nice time.Chat Icon

How annoying.. this is a day for celebrating you and your LO not to put stress on you.. I think people should be able to figure out how to get there on their own Chat Icon

Re: Shower vent... remember the one from a few months ago?

Holy cow! I cannot believe people are being so bold as to come to you (or DH) for transportation to an event.

I have lived on LI all my life so public transportation has never been a part of my daily routine. But I would imagine living in Queens it would be part of theirs. How can it be after all this time of knowing when the shower is they haven't been able to figure out their own transportation?

I am sure there are plenty more people coming. And by the lack of moving items on your registry truly means nothing since some refuse to buy off registries (am I making you feel better yet, Chat Icon) and others wait till the day before to make their purchase.

I would tell DH to send them a train schedule and be done with it. The people that want to be there will move mountains to get themselves there.

So sorry you are dealing with this. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Send me an invite, text buddy. I'll come and I will even drive myself there Chat Icon Chat Icon

eta - I can't believe your landlady would even ask you for a ride. I could maybe understand if she said "any chance someone in the area could bring me" but why would she think she is so special that she should be in the car with the guest of honor? No one was in the car with me for my baby shower with DS except for DH who drove me there because I was on bedrest.
