shower seating (another question at the bottom)

Do you leave seating open for the baby shower? Or do you make place cards for the tables? What did you ladies do, and which do you prefer when attending?

TIA! Oh approx 30 guests.

Re: shower seating

IMO any time you have an event that is not just immediate family, do the assigned seating. It makes everything less awkward. Nothing is worse than having to find a place to sit - and your whole family is there but you still have to sit with strangers

Re: shower seating

I did place cards at mine and I prefer it that way. That way there is no oddball seating and people can always mingle.

ETA: One time I went to a shower with no assigned seating and I wound up with the persons family who I didn't know and the people I did know were on the other side of the room. Very awkward.

Re: shower seating

I'm not doing place cards, I figure everyone can find a place to sit. Plus I don't want the added stress of figuring out who should sit with who.

ETA: I don't think I've ever gone to a shower with assigned seating, bridal or baby. I just went to a shower and my coworkers grabbed a table before I got there and saved me a seat.

Yup that happened to me, and one time I was introducing myself and I was sitting with the GRANDMOTHER! She said she was so busy helping that no one had saved her a seat and she was stuck with us random people in the back Chat Icon

Re: shower seating

I had assigned tables for my shower, but only because there were 80 people there...i think that the smaller the affair is, there isnt really isnt a need for assigned seating. Plus it is less stressful for you to have to make the tables!!

Re: shower seating

Thank you ladies for your advice. I want to do assigned seating for the exact reasons mentioned above. My mom thinks it is not necessary and we should just leave it open. I think I am going to pull the preggzilla card on this one, and do the place cards. Lol. Sorry mom!

I did placecards and am happy I did. I liked having certain people together and knowing where each person was.

I've been to showers both ways.

Honestly, when I go to a shower & don't know anyone except for the mom-to-be... I'd rather have assigned seating.

Re: shower seating (another question)

Assigned seating it will be Chat Icon I just read these responses to my mom on the phone to convince her Chat Icon

Now do I just put the place cards at each setting or do I do table numbers, and put all the place cards in one area? Since it is only 30 ppl I was going to just put them at each plate. Is that weird?

Its might be a litle confusing...usually the place can set up a little table where you can display the place cards...on the card put the guests name and table #...each table will have a number.
