Shower Doors

yay or nay?

We are redoing our bathroom with a bathtub and FH wants to put on shower doors instead of a curtain. I'm on the fence. Those who have shower doors do you like them? Are they annoying to clean/keep clean?

I hate sliding dors on a tub. IMO, they are a PITA to clean.

Forget it trying to bathe young kids.

I'd much rather have a curtain I can wash and a liner I can pitch when it gets gross.

I would never have a tub with shower doors again. Hard to clean, dark inside if you go with one that is a mirror, and more than once we hit that rail with our foot getting out (ouch!). It's uncomfortable to lean over to clean and hard to access so I can only guess at what a pain it would be if you were trying to bathe a baby or toddlers.

I was just talking with my mom about this. While doors look nicer, I prefer curtains. You can always change up the look with the curtain, I personally bleach the liner when it's grimy and there are no issues about getting something in or out to clean.

Thanks for the responses! I was leaning towards no to begin with and after reading your responses I think a shower curtain would be a lot easier (especially with kids down the line). Now I just have to get FH on board

i prefer a curtain rod - easier to clean and easier with kids

the other option - is the half glass - it is more expensive but easier to celan - it is the seamless glass

i definetly would not like or want a track but if you have teenagers showering you may want some glass

I think the doors look better but the curtains are cleaner and easier with a LO

I really never liked the look of a curtain... dont know why... i grew up in a house that always had a shower door... so maybe its just what im used to... so we installed one on our tub when we moved in... yeah, the water spots are of course more visible, but i figure it's only me and DH that ever use it so who cares! When we have company thats when I go to work on the doors! Now if we have kids down the line, I may have to take them off then...

We have a framless shower door for the shower. But it's a guess bathroom upstairs that we don't use.

I did not want one for the bathtub. Just so unpractical with a young child and bathing them.

I also hate the cleaning part.

Funny you should post this. We just removed our shower doors today. I have hated them from day one.

no shower doors!!

I told FH that they are going to be a pain the butt to clean and lets be realistic I'M the one who will have to keep them clean, so to not hear me
