Show Offs
do you know any people /relatives that are show offs? Like they have the need to tell you how much something is or instead of saying they bought a tv (and us not asking) it's a plasma 700 Inches BLAH BLAH ...I hate that I am almost embarrased to tell people how much when asked .. JMO I hate show offs !

Yes, I have family that does this all the time. It gets old and it's come to the point where I avoid seeing them as much as possible. It usually is because the person is insecure I think.

I agree that it's embarassing, and it usually is a person who feels the need to prove themselves to everyone. I try to ignore it when it happens, they make themselves look ridiculous on thier own. BTW - I love your avatar, where did you find that?

see that's what i think but then when something is said it is b/c your jealous? I don't see me as being jealous I just don't care If you have Louis vuitton underwear or Kmart underwear.. buy it cause you like it not to brag about it

Yes, I think it has to do with them being jealous and insecure. They are always trying to one up everyone. In the end it only makes them look like an idiot. Don't waste your time on people like this.

I do know a few people like that but it doesn't bother me. Not sure if it's because I don't care how much they paid/earn or because I feel sorry for them for feeling the need to tell everyone.

I agree...we know someone who always complains about how much something cost. For example, we get invited to an event = a concert or something - their treat but from that point forward all we ever hear about is how expensive the tickets are. We offer to pay but they don't except it - because then the conversation ends about the money they spent. It's frustrating but at the same time I do feel sorry for them for having to show off that way. As if to prove they are doing well for themselves.

There is someone at work who is like that
She is buying a family members home and was practically SHOUTING about how it's in such an up and coming neighborhood, the exclusive part of the town... blah, blah, blah, blah, blah... how her FH is a contractor and he only does houses in the most exclusive areas of the north shore... how she hates the curved??? setting of her brand new engagement ring and she asked her fiancee to get the exact same setting but make sure the base of the prongs or whatever are curved because that what she saw such and such celebrity had...
I swear, she has the mentality of a 9 year old.
Actually, I take that back, I don't want to insult the 9 year olds of the world.

My boss is like this, we have to hear about his daughter's 25K COMMUNION!!!!!!!! And we have to go too, DH said no way, so I am solo......
I am in no way jealous, but come on!!!! It's a freakin Communion, not a wedding!!!

Me too. I am happy with my life and feel sorry for people who have to constantly convince other people how great theirs is. If it was that great, they would simply enjoy it.
I do wonder sometimes if they are spending themselves into debt every minute of the day.

I have family who are even worse..the COMPETE. If one gets a 60 inch TV, someone has to get the bigger one, one gets a new appliance, the other one has to get one. it's sick. I can't take it. And there's a REASON I tell no one details about my wedding. I don't want to be part of the competition on either end
