Should I pump??

Hi, My DD is 8 weeks old and I have been bF here exclusively since she was born. I work from home and have started back gradually and will increase my hours over the next few weeks so I will be working 3 full days by the time she is 12 weeks old and 5 full days by the time she is 16 weeks.

My Q. is considering I can work from home and can BF on demand when she needs it do I need to pump? My main reason for getting a pump at this stage is that I have a fear of something happening to me, ie. going to hospital for a few days etc etc and my DD not being able to BF.....

Any advice? TIA

Re: Should I pump??

Do you plan to give expressed BM when you go back to work FT??? If so- I would start pumping now... and freeze whatever you make...

Re: Should I pump??

I posted this on the wrong board - have moved it over to the parenting board....
Thanks for your reply. I will be still working from home when I am back at work full time so dont know if there will be a need to pump seen as I can feed here right there and then.

I guess the main reason that I am contemplating pumping is for emergencies if I cannot BF my baby.....I am planning ahead...but wondered if it affects your milk supply when you pump.

Thanks

Re: Should I pump??

You do not need to pump, but of course you can and build a freezer supply. Pump with a good quality pump 15 minutes after your morning nursing session. You always make more milk in the morning. let me know if you need to really build a supply up.
I can help with that too.
