Should I call the vet?

As mentioned in my previous post, Lilly is on 3 different types of meds to clear her of parasites.

We had an AWFUL night with her last night. She was up every 2 hours to go outside (she did #1 & #2 3 times overnight outside) and she was also the whiniest we have ever seen her. Normally she goes potty and we bring her right back into her crate with no problems. She wanted NO part of the crate last night. We brought her into bed with us hoping that she would settle in, but she just paced under the covers.

I'm hoping that it was just the meds that threw her system off last night and that we can get a bit more sleep tonight. we are both like zombies this morning. DH was with her after I left for work today and he said that she was acting crazy. She was crying and whining like he had never heard before.

She's normally not a cryer and I'm just worred about her - especially because of all the meds that she is on. Do you think I should call the vet (awful place that it is) or is it normal for them to act out of the ordinnary when they are getting rid of parasites?

She has 9 more days of meds and I would hate to see her acting like this for that time. Chat Icon

Porter had Giardia, Round worms and something else when we got him. I can't remember what. But out vet put him on Panacur. He was on it for like 6 days i think and if i remember correctly he was given a pill as well. The panacur went right in his food. It did not upset his stomach and he did not act out of the ordinary. I would call the vet or look into getting a new vet. Good luck with Lilly. Chat Icon that she gets better soon.

anything that makes you nervous warrants a call to the vet if your pet is sick. Thats what you pay them for! I would call. Even if her behavior or reaction to the meds are normal, it will put your mind at ease if you hear it from the vet.

If your beloved pet was purchased from a pet store, sadly these instances are quite common. I strongly advise you to contact the vet and if you are not happy with your vet, change vets. I recommend the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital in NYC if you live close to NYC.
