Should I be worried...Christmas Tree related

So my parents bought us a live tree from Lancaster and brought it to us yesterday. DH put it in the stand last night and I filled it with water. When I checked this morning the water level did not go down so I don't think it drank any water. I thought the first few days the tree gets very thirsty and drinks alot. Should I be worried? If the water level is still the same should I have DH take it down and cut an inch off the bottom? I didn't decorate it yet because I was waiting for it to settle so it shouldn't be that hard to take it down. TIA.

You should always cut part of the bottom off a real tree, bc when they first cut it down, the sap seals the bottom when it dries and then it cant absorb any water.

I asked DH if it was cut on the bottom and he said yes..it was already pre-cut...but I'm thinking during the 4+ hours of transport it's possible it got dried out and sealed. I'm going to have to check when I get home today to see if it drank any water.

Yes, have him cut some off the bottom!
They get kind of sealed so cuting it will open it up to drink!Chat Icon

Bj I was just thinking that!Chat Icon

It's the last thing we do before we bring it in the house and sock it right into the base with water in it!

Definitely recut it. It doesn't take long at all for it to seal and dry.
