Should I be worried?

The doctor finally called and confirmed my pregnancy! Chat Icon But they said my bloodwork showed my number was 17 (just pregnant), so they want me back today to draw blood again. Should I worry?

Re: Should I be worried?

Early numbers tend to be low, but they go up fairly quickly. I'm sure they just want to see tomorrow if your numbers are on the rise. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I don't think you should worry. Your levels will go up.

Re: Should I be worried?

Thank you, I guess I just wasn't expecting to be called back into the doctor. I go today at 4. I hope it brings more good news. I am worrying a bit.

Re: Should I be worried?

Maybe they just want to get a better idea of a DD?

Re: Should I be worried?

My clinic does blood work twice - the first is a baseline so they have something to compare it to. So it makes perfect sense that they want you back today, try not to worry....and congrats!!!!!

OMG! Thank you. I just found all this weird, because when I called and said I got a positive HPT they scheduled me for a visit in November. But I requested a blood test to see if I was immune to 5ths disease. Then then said well we will draw your blood to confirm the pg while we are at it. So, to have them ask for more blood freaked me out.

my doctor already wrote the prescription for the bloodwork and it was also to go for 2 days (i go mon and wed) i guess they want to make sure the numbers double within the 48 hour period

Re: Should I be worried?

they will want to make sure it doubles every 24 hours. Thats more important( the doubling) then the #'s. Its low, but you could have missed you ovulation date and be earlier pg then you expect. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Should I be worried?

I say totally normal. I went back a few times just to see how fast my levels were climbing.
(and I am not immune to Fifth's Disease which was a surprise because I definitley had it as a kid - don't let that scare you either)
