Should I Be Concerned That At 27 Weeks Pregnant...

I've only gained 11 pounds with no weight gain in the past three weeks? I am starting my 28th week today. At my 24 week appointment the my Dr was ok with it and say that the baby was measuring right on.

I am heavy to begin with. Had weight loss surgery and lost 60lbs prior to being pregnant. Now, I am gaining slow and now that I just found out that I have Genstational Diabetes and my diet is so strict, I feel like I'll NEVER gain weight. Will the growth of baby just make me or no?

PS. Does anyone know at what week Doctors appointmwnt they will talk to me about paperwork for the hospital for child birth such an insurance etc, protocols if I go into labor, etc? I am startng to wonder all this.

Thanks

When you are heavy, you are supposed to gain much less weight than normal. I had some major concerns with my lack of weight gain this entire pregnancy. The doctor said that as long at the baby is growingm everything is fine. I am at 25 weeks almost and I have only gained 10 pounds my enitre pregnancy. The doctor said it was totally fine as long as I am eating healthy and enough...which I totally am!Chat Icon

I'm just over 29 weeks and I gained 12 pounds already. I think as long as the baby is a good size you don't have to worry. my DC is measuring ahead by 2 weeks, so I think all is well. I was underweight to begin with. if you are over, you are not supposed to gain that much (not sure what the range is) for me its 35-40 pounds, I don't see that happening!

my doc hasn't spoken about my labor at all, so I"m not sure what the norm is for that.

If there was anything to be concerned about the Dr would mention, so dont worry!

My Dr never brought up the subject of registering at the hosptial so I brought it up to him. You dont have to wait for the Dr to ask , you can ask him. As far as child birth classes, my Dr just suggested lamaze to me at like 30 weeks

absolutely not! I'm average weight and at 31 weeks I've only gained 15 lbs with this one.

With DS I only put on 12.

The less that goes on, the faster and easier it comes off

I'm up the same- 11 pounds at 27 weeks. I was not heavy to begin with so I was getting a little concerned too, but I really think it all depends on the baby and the pregnancy. My doctor didn't say anything about it.

I'm heavier too and the doc recommended I only gain between 10-20 pounds for the pregnancy. If the doc was concerned they would let you know! Chat Icon

Re: Should I Be Concerned That At 27 Weeks Pregnant...

I was very heavy when I got pg. I only gained 12 lbs over my entire pg and 4 of them was the 1st month. My doc said I was right on track.

My dr's office gave me paperwork for the hospital around 36 weeks. They sent the paperwork to the hospital, but gave me a copy just in case they didn't have it when I went there. They did so it was fine.

My motto is if the doctor isn't concerned, you shouldn't be concerned.

You'll make yourself nuts...
