Shorty!!!!! THIS ONE's FOR YOU!!!!!
Look what i just found on the net:
"She's Got Issues" Killer on the loose jimmy sweeney on the rise in street violence, killer swans and the all-new pacifist
See if you think I'm sick for finding this funny. On Friday, a story appeared on the front page of the Irish Times with the intriguing headline: "Woman victim of swan's attack loses injury claim." Now I ask you, how could you not read on after an invitation like that?
It appears that the woman, Mary Ryan from Castleknock, had been walking alone in the park when she stopped to feed a swan. As you do. She was walking away, she said, when she heard a fluttering of wings behind her.
"When I turned around," she continued, "I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He was coming for me. He knocked me to the ground. He continued to aggressively beat my legs and tried to peck me in the head."
She was saved from further injury by a passing motorist, who pumped his horn to distract the swan while she ran to another car. The swan didn't give up there, though. According to Ms Ryan, it "followed me and started pecking at the car and beating at it with its wings." Clearly, not a happy bird.
State-sanctioned swan Anyway, there it should have ended, but it didn't, for the victim subsequently decided to sue the state because there had been no signs warning people as to the "mischievous propensity and uncertain temperament" of swans.
I ask you. I know we live in a climate of insane litigiousness, but that really takes the biscuit. Every unfortunate thing that happens to you should not be viewed as a legitimate moneymaking opportunity.
Happily, though, Judge Kevin Haugh was having none of it. He rejected the idea that the park commissioners had acquired a "wild beast" and left it to roam in the Phoenix Park. The bird had landed there of its own accord, and the commissioners were not responsible for its actions.
The bird was described as "a loner" who was having "a very bad day." I'll say. I keep imagining all these swans being interviewed afterwards and saying things like "He kept himself pretty much to himself," and "He seemed so normal."
OMG!!! PIMP!!!!
