Short Sales
Is there a way for you to find out on the internet if a house is a short sale?

Re: Short Sales
I remember seeing some listings on MLSLI that were short sales. Sometimes it says it in the description. Maybe you can check there.

Re: Short Sales
Also, if there are no pictures of the inside of the house it might be a short sale, but not all the time.

Re: Short Sales
Often www.ziprealty.com gives you more information on that type of stuff than mlsli.com. I like that site because you can search by street address too.

Re: Short Sales
Whenever I looked at the info pages, the short sales usually said '3rd party approval required' or something along those lines.

Re: Short Sales
you can call the listing agent that has the house and ask
clues in the add that it *may* be a short sale: no interior pics sold in as in condition bank owned or it say subject to bank approval if your using listing book, the DOM (days on market) is extremely high but this is never a guarantee I would just call the listing agent and ask if the ad doesn't say it

Re: Short Sales
It does say in the RE Agent view which you do not have access to unless you are with an agent. As mentioned in other posts, there are usually clues...it usually says "Pending Bank Approval", "Third Party Approval Needed", "Priced Below Market"
With a Foreclosure you will see the words "Sold As Is", "Bank Owned" "REO". With Foreclosures there are usally no pictures of the inside, but short sales usually still do have pictures.
If you are serious about Short Sales, be sure to use a Short Sale attorney so that the process goes smoother. They are also so well versed they can tell you right from the begining if they think the Banks will go forward with the short sale. Be prepared to be patient...short sales can be a lengthy process.
