Short moms ? About crib

I'm about 5'2/ 5'3" we lowered the mattresses to the lowest and it's hard for me to put her I. Dd1 I kinda rolled/ dropped in. She did t care. Dd2 wakes up each time and cries. I can't get her to go down.

How do you do it?

I'm 5 foot and had the exact same issue - even before the mattress was dropped.

I set up a step stool at the front of the crib and would lean over slowly to put in DS. There were times I teeter tottered over the rail and had to try to regain balance - but I was lucky and DS slept through it.

Now that he's older and the crib is fully dropped, it's not so bad. 90% of the time he goes into it awake so I don't have to worry about getting him in too smoothly.

thank GOD AJ didn't stand up until much later. By 20m she was in a toddler bed. I HATED bending over it would wake her up and bothered me.

ETA: I did have an advantage tho. I had a drop side crib! best thing EVER Chat Icon

I got it from BRU brand new it was a few months later the drama about drop side started. Still best thing we ever did was stick with it.

DD is 15 months and the crib isn't in the lowest position. She's not a climber (knock on wood) and she'll stand so I can pick her up. I'm 5'1. We have the crib in the middle position.

I'm only 4"11 and I know exactly what your talking about. My dd crib is lowered all the way. Now she plays this game with me where she lays flat in the crib when I try to get her out because she knows I can't get her. I basically have to stand on my tippy toes to reach her. I haven't found any solution to it yet.

I do have a step stool, one step, and I feel to high and I'm gonna fall in with her. Lol. She wakes up if not put in at the right angle, the right way, her way, or not fully sound asleep. Lol. She's a pain. I didn't have this problem with dd1. This is really annoying. Especially b/c now she won't nap and she's been up since 3 am and so have I. I really needed this nap today.

I bought a step stool and kept it in front of the crib. I'm 5'2" & DD would wake up every time bc I'd be dropping her in. It's a small stool and I got it at BRU, I figure Dd can use it for the bathroom sink when she's a little older.

Re: Short moms ? About crib

I tried a step stool with DS1 and it didn't work well for me bc I felt like I would fall (DS1 was heavy, 25lbs by 12 months). I would literally lean over the front crib rail all the way such that my feet were off the ground and the rail was supporting me. It never phased him but he was an amazing sleeper.

With DS2 now (17lbs at 4 months) I'm having the same issue even though the crib mattress is up bc the crib rail is so wide. Am doing the same thing but he wakes up sometimes. I'm getting better with practice, lol!

I have a step stool that i use if i am putting any of them to bed already asleep. Usually it's just my 17 month old but occasionally if one of my 3 year olds falls asleep i have to do this or DH will have to put them in the crib.

i have one of those one step plastic stools I got for dd when potty training. We needed a 2 step one so she could wash her hands, and this step rarely got used.
So I decided to try it out. It makes me kinda high and like i'm gonna fall in on top of her, but I figured out that if I step on it with one foot and place her in, It gives me enough support to hold her tight and place her in better than dropping her like I was lol.

This never phased dd1 but dd2 is totally different in every way so I guess I really shouldn't be so surprised lol.

Thanks ladies
