Shipwreck Cove...some questions?
How big is it?
It will be me, DH, my 17 m/o son, and 2 18yr olds...is it good for all ages or just young ones??
Is there anything there for my 17 m/o?
Overall opinions? TIA

Hey there...we were there last week. It's a nice area for kids. I'm attaching a pic, you can get an idea. The 18 year olds will probably have a better time at the beach 1/2 block away from the sprinkler area. BTW its $10 per person so let them decide b4 if they're going in or not.
There's also a playground right outside the sprinkler area, near the beach.
ETA its $10 to park.

It's right down the street from me -- and we went last wknd with my brother's kids.
The older kids will probably get bored quick.  It really is designed for smaller kids up to about tween age, since it's just a spray park up to 6" in depth of water. It's good to cool off in when playing with the younger kids.
Bring your own chairs, since they run out quickly. The older kids might walk on down to the small beach area, but it's really not much..and the sand is a bit filled with rocks.
If you are a Town of Islip resident it's $7 with ID -- non town residents is $10, if you have the recreation card it's $5 a person.
ETA: you will likely have to just take the 17 month old in with you and just let them play in the water at the edge. The kids running around can be a little rowdy, and there really isn't a specific area for the toddlers.
They require that you have swimmer diapers on your baby if you bring them in.

3 and under is free, if you do not have the town of islip rec card then there is a parking fee as well, forget what it is though since i had the card.hth

My sister said it's $10 to park, then $10 per person that wants to go into the spray park.

For non-residents there is a $10 parking fee per car. On top of that there is a $10 per person admission fee to the sprinkler park, for everyone over the age of 3.
So, the above poster would pay $10 to park, $10 per 18 year old, and then $10 for herself, for a total of $40. Not worth it IMHO. You can go to Venetian Shores or Tanner Park on the weekend for $25 for a non-resident. (although the 18 years olds would be just as bored there).
