She's always sick.
It seems like Emily constantly is either congested or has a cold lately.
I am a teacher so I'm sure I'm bringing germs home.
I have mentioned it to the dr and she said when it seems bad to give her Triaminic Cold & Allergy for it... but I don't want to keep giving her medicine.
I don't know what I should do .....
She could also be picking things up from the babysitters since there are 5 kids/babies there now -- and I also don't want her to keep giving things to the other kids because they'll just keep passing it around.

Re: She's always sick.
Has she been on an antibiotic very often? When Joseph had amost monthly ear infections along with the antibiotics to "fight them", my sister insisted I needed a probiotic. She said that acidophulis would help grow the healthy bacteria back since the antibiotic fought ALL the bacteria (both good & bad).
I thought it was a crock for a long time. When I reached the end of my rope, I ordered it. I would put it in a tiny amount of juice (has to be refrigerated). It worked like a charm.
You can order it from any drug store, but since my sister is very particular about brands I ordered from Willner Chemists (for some reason the website isn't working )

She has actually never been on an antibiotic. The doctor said that it is just colds and to just treat it with OTC meds but I don't want to give her OTC meds too much, you know? I know with the triaminic they say 5 days and then stop --- but I feel like we stop for a few days and then she's congested all over again.

I cut up Airborne Jr. for Maddie. I know that staves off any cold that she starts getting.

She drinks warm milk --- other then that we haven't given her anything warm.
I wouldn't know how much airborne to give her.

Re: She's always sick.
what about camomile tea? Luka has been congested alot these past 1.5 months and I try to give it to him but he doesnt care for it much. I try to only give him a decongestant at night so he can sleep well and I also put a hummidifier on. I have no idea if it helps but I also open the windows when it is a little brisk outside to airout the house . I try to do it when my DH isn't home because he hates when I do that.

Re: She's always sick.
her running nose and stuff might be contributed to her teething...
When Jacob has colds and I ask my brother, I ask him about over the counter.. his response-if you want to but it really doesn't do much at all...
try vicks vapo rub for infants that always help
I would just let it run its course...

Re: She's always sick.
She is teething and that is something that I do worry about -- that I'm treating it and meanwhile it's just teething related...
But lately it's been thick/clogged and she has quite a cough so I am giving her the triaminic and also using saline nasal drops to try and keep that running rather then clogging up.
ABout the airborne jr and chamomile tea how much of that stuff would I give her?
I haven't tried vicks for infants -- that is a good idea.

Re: She's always sick.
At aged 2, I would break the tablet in half and give it to her in a sippy cup. Let it sit for a bit so the fizziness goes down. It's mainly made up of herbal remedies. It's particularly good for headcolds.
I usually try to hold off on giving them OTC medicine, but when she's getting a cold she doesn't eat much. She gets colds more because she is a thumbsucker.
