Shellac manicure while pregnant

Is this safe? I have never gotten one and called my friend today who gets them all the time to ask her about it and she told me that she remembers reading somewhere that it wasn't safe for pregnant women. So I just got a regular mani. Anyone know if there is truth to this?

I'm not sure why it would be harmful???

there isn't any acrylic in it is there? but even if there is many women get their nails done with acrylic.

I get it every 2/3 weeks and have since before I was pregnant.
the only thing I think *might* be any bit harmful is soaking my fingers in the nail polish remover. but I don't think I absorb that much of it really.

My old nail girl did nails 5 days a week and breathed in and touched nail poilish remover all day. she also had acrylic nails and her DD was perfectly fine. shes now 4.
