Shakira gives birth to second son
Shakira’s brood continues to grow.
The Latin pop star welcomed a healthy baby boy on Thursday, the 36-year-old “Hips Don’t Lie” singer shared on her official website.
“We are happy to announce the birth of Sasha Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, 27, born January 29 at 9:54 p.m., in Barcelona,” it reads.
“The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means ‘defender of mankind’ and ‘warrior.’”
Both mother and child are doing “excellent” per the hospital’s comment.
Since becoming a mother, Shakira has not slowed down on her creative ventures, but notes things are “different.”
“Maybe the biggest change is that I think about the future more, what the world will be like for him when grows up,” the star told People about her eldest son, 2-year-old Milan.
“But when it comes to living, it’s all about the present,” she added. “I’m finally able to really savor all of those little moments that, in the early days of my career, I was too busy thinking about the next thing to just stop, take it all in, and enjoy.”

. In Russia it is a boy's name. Eta : used as a nickname for Alexander.

It's a unisex nickname for Alexander and Alexandra in Eastern Europe. My cousin married an Eastern European man and they named their girl Alexandra. They call her Sasha.
